Accounting and Risk Manager Role:
The Accounting and Risk Manager plays a critical, hands-on role in managing daily accounting operations and risk management activities while driving process improvements, efficiencies, and cross-functional initiatives that support long-term growth and stability
Lead and complete ad-hoc and short-term accounting and financial projects, including time-sensitive analyses and reporting for senior management
Evaluate risk exposures across all assets and ensure appropriate insurance coverage and policy limits are maintained
Develop, implement, and manage a captive insurance program to optimize coverage, manage costs, and protect company assets
Proactively manage relationships with insurance brokers and lenders to secure favorable terms, cost efficiency, and timely service
Partner with third-party vendors to maintain accurate data for the companyâs captive rentersâ insurance program ensuring continuous coverage and minimizing the risk of lapses
Identify and assess operational, financial, and strategic risks; develop and implement mitigation strategies across departments
Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, finance, and operational workflows, with a focus on automation, paperless processes, and scalable systems
Take ownership of financial and operational initiativesâdriving implementation, documenting best practices, and training the broader team as needed
Accounting and Risk Manager Background Profile:
Bachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within real estate, private equity, or property management
Prior experience managing or coordinating risk management and insurance programs
Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with relevant accounting systems (Yardi a plus)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Demonstrated experience developing or managing a captive insurance program is a strong plus
Proven track record of taking initiative and delivering structured solutions to ambiguous or evolving processes
Ability to maintain positive relationships with brokers, lenders, and external partners to support cost-effective and comprehensive risk coverage
