Job Description

Join a rapidly expanding energy technology company as their Business Development Manager, responsible for driving commercial electric vehicle battery sales, developing strategic partnerships with automotive OEMs, and accelerating market penetration within the electrification sector. Be a pivotal revenue generation partner to executive leadership and guide sales initiatives across the commercial EV and automotive manufacturing markets. This is a direct hire opportunity with flexible work arrangements based in Houston, Texas or remote options available with 50% travel. Candidates from California will not be considered.

Your Role:
Develop Strategic Partnerships: Create and nurture relationships with automotive advisors, suppliers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to accelerate adoption of advanced battery technology solutions
Drive the Sales Process: Execute comprehensive prospecting initiatives, qualify potential opportunities, and successfully close sales for commercial electric vehicle battery systems through diverse sourcing methods and industry connections
Deliver Solution-Focused Presentations: Provide persuasive demonstrations to OEMs highlighting fast-charging battery capabilities, energy storage solutions, and consulting services customized to their electrification objectives
Execute Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside solution consultants, sales leadership, and technical specialists to develop strategies and secure high-impact opportunities within the commercial EV sector
Facilitate Product Enhancement: Collaborate directly with product management and engineering divisions on battery validation projects and OEM-specific specifications
Manage Client Partnerships: Engage in routine communication with clients and partners, coordinating quarterly business assessments to strengthen and expand strategic alliances
Accelerate Revenue Performance: Achieve and surpass individual daily, weekly, and monthly sales objectives while supporting overall organizational growth targets
Optimize CRM Platforms: Employ Salesforce and additional tools to monitor all sales activities, opportunity pipeline, and customer engagement
Cultivate Industry Knowledge: Build and sustain comprehensive expertise in automotive electrification developments, EV market forces, battery technology specifications, and competitive environment
Generate Market Intelligence: Supply product pricing recommendations and market analysis to leadership based on current developments in operational and capital investment sectors
Engineer Solution Strategies: Construct value propositions through understanding market requirements from the client viewpoint, developing customized battery solutions and communication approaches

Background Profile:
Bachelor's degree or comparable professional background
5+ years of B2B sales expertise, ideally in automotive, clean technology, or SaaS platforms
Demonstrated business development experience with specialization in new client acquisition and opportunity generation
Proven history of creating and completing complex, high-impact sales opportunities
Outstanding presentation, communication, and consultative listening capabilities
Expert negotiation skills with confirmed ability to finalize agreements and accelerate revenue
Background with challenger sales approaches and advisory selling techniques
Automotive sector experience highly valued (OEM partnerships, commercial vehicles, electrification developments)
Knowledge of battery technology, energy storage platforms, or similar clean technology solutions beneficial
Experience with automotive CRM platforms, dealer management systems (DMS), and industry workflows
Superior workplace productivity with robust project coordination and multitasking capabilities
Self-directed with exceptional work standards and consistent integrity
Team-oriented approach to collaborating across multiple divisions to provide comprehensive solutions
Dedicated to ongoing education about advancing EV technology and market evolution
Flexibility to travel up to 50% nationally to engage with clients and participate in industry functions
Background in industry councils, trade organizations, and automotive conferences
Demonstrated capability to build trusted consultant relationships with executive leadership and primary decision makers
