Summary of the Bilingual Accountant Role:
The Bilingual Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial functions of a dynamic construction firm, with a primary focus on ensuring payroll accuracy, meticulous job costing, and precise financial reporting. This critical position involves close collaboration with senior accounting professionals and acts as a key internal resource for addressing payroll and accounting inquiries from both field and office personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and oversee in-house payroll operations, including payroll taxes and compliance
- Guarantee timely and precise payroll for all employees as a top priority
- Handle accounts payable and receivable processes
- Conduct bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Manage job costing activities and ensure accurate allocation of payroll and expenses
- Track and analyze employee expenses
- Prepare and maintain precise financial records for internal and external purposes
- Generate financial reports utilizing income and expenditure data
- File payroll taxes and meet other financial obligations as required
- Operate within accounting and financial systems efficiently
- Assist with new hire paperwork and onboarding procedures
- Provide general administrative and clerical support when necessary
- Communicate with employees regarding payroll, benefits, leave, and any related inquiries
- Translate financial or government communications into Spanish as needed
Desired Qualifications for the Bilingual Accountant:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 2-3 years of practical accounting experience
- Proficient in internal payroll processing
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and other spreadsheet tools
- Prior experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and verbal communication)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment
- Capable of working autonomously while collaborating effectively with leadership
- Preferably experienced in Construction or job-cost accounting
- Preferred exposure to supporting payroll with various pay types
