A seasoned Controller is being sought to take charge of the accounting operations for a rapidly expanding company. Based in Houston, Texas, this role involves overseeing financial reporting, managing audit and tax compliance, and driving enhancements in accounting processes. This full-time position presents an exciting opportunity for a strategic accounting professional who excels in a dynamic, global setting.

Employed within a global project-oriented sector, our client supports large-scale ventures in the energy and infrastructure domain.
Role of the Controller:
- Supervising consolidated reporting in accordance with US GAAP and Japanese GAAP
- Managing audit and tax procedures
- Implementing system upgrades to boost accuracy and efficiency
- Oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes
- Leading external financial reporting and consolidated statements
- Collaborating with external auditors to ensure full audit compliance
- Handling tax filings and relationships with external tax advisors
- Applying accounting principles following US GAAP, Japanese GAAP, and internal policies
- Enhancing and maintaining internal controls and reporting standards
- Providing accounting guidance on new business transactions and complex issues
- Leading accounting system implementation or upgrade initiatives (e.g., SAP, OneStream, or similar)
- Working with subsidiaries for consolidated financial reporting
- Preparing financial reports and presentations for senior management and audit committee
- Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating a team of accountants and contractors
Required Background for the Controller:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; active CPA license
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
- Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and intricate accounting transactions
- Demonstrated leadership in financial reporting, internal controls, and audit coordination
- Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel
Preferred Experience:
- Working in multinational or complex corporate environments
- Background in the energy industry
- Familiarity with Diva, OneStream, or SAP systems
- Experience in cross-cultural or bilingual reporting
