Are you an experienced Accounting Specialist seeking a temporary or contract-to-hire opportunity in the energy and infrastructure industry? Our client is looking for a hands-on professional to support multi-entity accounting operations, month-end close, and internal reporting. This Accounting Specialist role in The Woodlands Texas is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is looking to make a long-term impact within a growing organization.

Accounting Specialist Role
As the Accounting Specialist, you will assist the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting operations. Youâll manage general ledger activity, handle vendor payables and customer receivables, process employee expenses, and support month-end close activities. The Accounting Specialist will also help track capital expenditures (CAPEX), manage intercompany allocations, and prepare internal financial reports.
Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee expenses, and credit card reconciliations
Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial reporting packages
Assist with intercompany accounting, fixed asset tracking, and capital project reporting
Review and verify expense submissions in Expensify, ensuring accurate coding and compliance
Maintain documentation for audits and ensure adherence to internal accounting policies
Partner with the Controller on cash flow analysis, budgeting, and financial planning
Support process improvement initiatives and assist with potential ERP migration from QuickBooks to Oracle
Accounting Specialist Backgroup Profile
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries
Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
Advanced Excel skillsÂ
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel requiredExperience with Expensify or similar expense management software
Bachelorâs degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA track or certification a plus
Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
