This role leads all technology functions, including IT, infrastructure, store systems, digital, data, and cybersecurity, to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative solutions that drive sales growth, operational efficiency, and outstanding customer experiences.
Chief Technology Officer Role:
Develop and own a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with company growth, merchandising, operations, and e-commerce strategies.
Partner with the CEO and executive team to translate business goals into a clear, prioritized portfolio of technology initiatives and investments.
Stay current on grocery and retail tech trends (unified POS, automation, AI, digital traceability, IoT) and turn them into practical, value-creating initiatives.
Oversee strategy and performance for store technology, including POS, self-checkout, mobile POS, price/shelf systems, and in-store Wi-Fi and devices.
Ensure high availability and resilience of all store systems to minimize downtime and protect sales and customer satisfaction.
Drive automation and smart store capabilities, including inventory automation, real-time shelf monitoring, and labor-saving digital tools for associates.
Own the technical strategy and performance for our e-commerce platforms, mobile apps, and digital experiences, from ordering and delivery to loyalty and personalization.
Enable seamless omnichannel journeys (delivery, curbside, BOPIS, subscriptions) through unified inventory, order orchestration, and customer data across channels.
Partner with Marketing and Merchandising to leverage data and digital tools for targeted promotions, recommendations, and customer engagement.
Define the data architecture and governance needed to support real-time decision making in merchandising, pricing, supply chain, and store operations.
Lead the adoption of advanced analytics and AI for demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, inventory optimization, space planning, and customer insights.
Establish KPIs and dashboards that track technology performance, customer experience, and business outcomes.
Oversee enterprise IT infrastructure (networks, cloud, data centers, endpoints) to ensure secure, scalable, and cost-effective operations across all locations.
Lead cybersecurity strategy and execution, protecting customer, payment, and operational data in compliance with PCI and applicable privacy regulations.
Implement robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans for stores, distribution centers, and digital platforms.
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing technology organization covering engineering, IT operations, products, data, and security.
Establish clear objectives, processes, and operating rhythms (e.g., agile delivery, change management) to improve speed, quality, and reliability.
Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, and major contracts, ensuring strong ROI and alignment with the technology roadmap.
